Can you give me an example of what happens to the premiums the producers receive?

Fairtrade & Sustainability - Cafédirect case study

The Maranura Primary Society in Peru keeps 10% of organic and gourmet premiums for educational material, and salaries of three technicians who give assistance and training to 33 committees. The co-op also bought a new coffee dryer and computer and distributed the balance of the premiums to its members. The rest is distributed among the organic farmers who use it to pay for various items, such as improvements to their home and farm, school uniforms and generally improve their standards of living.
